Research

Aaron's research is a collaboration between Computer Science and the Sir Peter Mansfield Magnetic Resonance Centre. Pulses/Functions are sought via optimisation techniques to improve MR Images.

Pulse design is fundamental to MRI research. Practically all MR imaging applications are enabled by one or more pulse sequences. It is the remit of the pulse designer to create suitable pulses for inclusion in a sequence. These are realised in a radiofrequency envelope signal which is a slowly varying function of time.

The pulse itself at the physical RF coil is a sinusoidal carrier waveform that is modulated by the RF envelope. When considering individual pulses, they are evaluated in terms of their abilities to satisfy multiple criteria.
