Research

My previous work was on detecting Internet worms and viruses using anomaly detection techniques. Currently, I am working in IRC and P2P bots Detection. Botnets, which consist of thousands of compromised machines, can cause a significant threat to systems by launching distributed denial of sevice (DDoS) attack. In response to this threat, new effective techniques are needed to detect the presence of bots. Existing approaches for bots detection are based on monitoring bots traffic patterns. Our approach does not depend on monitoting these patterns but rather tracking the change of behaviors in the system. In addition, we are trying to detect bots based on correlation of different behaviors on the system.
